a lot of rain. the rain is coming down in seattle, and it will continue to do so for quite some time. closer look, though, shows you that we are certainly seeing some of the heavier pockets of rain right along the coast. and we are going to have to deal with some of those showers off and on for a little while. now, down in florida, we are also seeing some of those heavier pockets of rain. we're also going to see a few lighter scattered showers down across southeastern massachusetts as we go throughout the day today. the middle of the country, though, actually looks nice and sunny and pretty mild, too. a warm-up in the plains. we should get into the 70s, though, as we head through kansas city. and we're also going to see that warmer weather start to work eastward into washington, d.c., where the cherry blossoms a little behind schedule, but we should see at least the peak from about april 6th to april 10th. that's expected. that's a look at the weather across the country. now here's a peek out your window. >>> and in seattle today, again, 57.s and 60s. not bad. >> and arizona standing

weather, you see there in san francisco, more on-shore flow, some early-morning clouds. seattle is looking at about 61 today. a little more cloudy and on-shore flow also. medford still gorgeous. and look at the intermountain west. boise at 79. in vegas and phoenix, just getting a little more toasty and heading in a warmer direction as we get ready for that summer season. as far as what we deal with throughout the rest of the day into the weekend, there's some showers in the forecast in seattle, especially into saturday. but it's not going to drench really the entire region. we're only going to be looking at light rain and pretty much that forecast holds into sunday. as far as the weekend goes, there's really not a lot of weather concerns. just we've had a great week of spoiled sunshine in seattle. just not going to last quite as long. that's a look a higher, start slapping that sunscreen on, too. cooler on the coast, though. >>> overall, just like the west coast, much of the country is warm enough finally. >> i don't know if folks know this, but you've got two remote controls on your desk

college, (inaudible) and the mayor of seattle is p pursuing divestment, vermont, and it is co-sponsored by 25 state representative and four senators in the state of vermont. divestment is the important compliment to the climate work and others happening. locally we have succeeded in significantly reducing our emissions and close to launching the clean power. california is moving for ward with the implementation with ab 32, environmentalists are finding to stop the keystone pipeline and there are hundreds and thousands of people to protest the pipeline when president obama came to san francisco. but government action is not enough. the fossil fuel companies are the root of our climate problems, in fact the companies have tried very, very hard to make sure that the debate and discourse about the climate action is something that is not scientific at all and it is based on things that do not exist or are not measurable by science. we can exercise the power of our pocket books by divesting our retirement fund from the fossil fuel companies. the retirement board can divest without e

of the wet weather is in the southeast and the northwest. although up across seattle and down into portland, also east into northern idaho, we are seeing lighter rain at this point. we're not going to see heavy torrential downpours or anything like that. we still have mountain snow falling out that way, too. a look at expected rainfall over the next 24 hours brings it up to around a quarter of an inch. could be closer to a half inch in bellingham, washington. we are looking for warm temperatures, though. yesterday phoenix hit their first 100-degree day of the season. today they should get up to 103. vegas yesterday broke a record at 97 degrees. and it looks like they should break a record today, too, with an expected high of 100 degrees. it is real warm in the southwest. and eventually as we go into tomorrow, any of the showers in the northwest should come to an end. you'll see mild across californ, arizona, flagstaff should hit 75. >>> the heat in the southwest. finally that heat moving into the plains, too. that's part of the reason we're seeing all that snow melt near fargo. it's warm fo

in the us; we also have cities . picking up the banner as well recently the mayor of the city of seattle, started the effort of divestment. from fossil fuel companies with a retirement fund. divestment is also an important part. ford is moving forward with the implementation of ab 832. government action is not enough. we have to recognize that we cannot burn all the oil and fuel and fossil reserves around. divestment is one tool that we have. the retirement board can invest responsiblywithout affecting the funds , security or yield. staff of the retirement board estimated out of the 15.6 billion the portfolio they have 583.7 million in the public holdings in the top 200 fossil fuel companies including 12 billion in exxon and 60 billion in chevron. the resolution calls for ceasing new fossil fuel investments and giving time to the board should divest in a responsible way. financial experts are studying how divest and can be done without increasing risks. the calculated that fossil fuels would increase the portfolio risk by only .01# for benchmark fund like the russell 3000 fund. for 73 p
